Thursday, July 9, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Program: Edgefield Garden Tour-Native Plant Edition
Leader: Annalise Michaelson
Location: in person at McMenamins ,Troutdale, Oregon
Annalise is an NPSO member and the assistant manager of the various gardens at McMenamins Edgefield. The former Multnomah County poor farm is now the 45-acre hotel, restaurant, spa, golf course, and concert venue that most are familiar with. The grounds also include holistically managed uncommon plantings, regenerative fruit and vegetable productions, native demonstration gardens, and restoration projects ranging from 2-36 years old. You will get an in-depth overview of the land use history and future visions, learn about various types of small to large scale habitat gardening strategies, and get a closer look at active restoration spaces currently closed to the public, including an amphibian breeding pond and a mini meadow with lots of blooming native annuals and bunchgrasses. Please join the Portland members for a special garden tour.
