Field Trip: Off-trail Botany Hike in the Split Rock Creek Drainage of Talent
Meeting Location: Talent Elementary School parking lot, 307 Wagner Creek Rd, Talent, OR 97540 at 9:30am
Leader: Wayne Rolle, retired Forest Service botanist
Join Wayne Rolle for an opportunity to see and enjoy the flora of local riparian, wetland, forest and meadow plant communities of the Split Rock Creek watershed in the Siskiyou Crest vicinity, south of Talent. The hike will be a full day cross-country in fairly steep terrain. The group will travel only a few miles but should expect 1,100-1,500 feet elevation gain and loss at a relatively leisurely pace. There will be frequent stops to talk about vascular plants, mosses, lichens, and maybe fungi. For questions about the hike, please reach out to the trip lead, Wayne Rolle, at wr****@**nd.net.
