Field Trip: Botanizing and Birding at Bohemia and Fairview
Leaders: Bruce Waugh and Nola Nelson
Join us for a trip to the top of the Calapooia Divide, coming from the Cottage Grove side. Since this is a transition zone, we’ll look for species on the northern end of their range like Nutall’s linanthus and Siskiyou false hellebore as well as four different species of stonecrop, Washington lilies, ghost orchids, and other myco-heterotrophs. On the bird front, we’ll look and listen for varied thrushes and hermit thrushes. We’ll make several stops on our way to the top, visiting a variety of habitat types.
Bring lunch, water, hiking boots, and sunscreen. Meet at South Eugene High School at 8:30 am or Row River Nature Park in Cottage Grove at 9:00 am to carpool. Sign up here
