Event: Restoration Field Work Opportunity (Highland)
Leader: David Cevallo
Location: 1500 SW Chandler Ave, Bend, OR 97702
This project is testing seed sourcing approaches for dryland restoration using native
grasses. We are working in both lowland and highland environments because they
represent different climate conditions. In general, lowlands are warmer and drier, while
highlands are cooler and wetter. Under climate change, many highland areas are
expected to become warmer and drier, so we are interested in understanding whether
ecotypes from drier environments may also be useful for restoration in places expected
to become drier in the future. Volunteers may help with site layout, direct seeding,
transplanting seedlings, labeling treatments, watering plants, and general field
logistics. Overnight camping is required. Please contact David if you’re interested in
