Field Trip: Touch Grass!
Location: Whetstone Savanna Preserve. Gate off Truax Road in Central Point (42.418336, -122.917882)
Leaders: Ezra Huebner (Resource Conservationist at NRCS) and Marisa Mancillas (Wetland Scientist at ODOT)
Come touch grass and learn how to identify members of the most exciting plant family— Poaceae—in the magical vernal pools. All skill levels are welcome! We will learn basic grass terminology, morphological traits, and how to identify grasses by groups (e.g., tribes, and genera). And…who knows…there may be a secret grass game as well!
