Meeting Location: 9am at Medford Olive Garden Restaurant, 3125 Crater Lake Highway. Park away from the Restaurant next to Crater Lake Hwy

Viewpoint Mike is a lovely trail that climbs steadily uphill to a rocky-moss covered viewpoint, showcasing early low elevation southwestern Oregon flowers. The hike is 4.6 miles roundtrip with 982ft elevation gain.  Unique species include Kellogg’s monkeyflower, Diplacus kelloggii; few flowered blue-eyed Mary, Collinsia sparsiflora in the moist open areas at low elevations; and California saxifrage, Micranthes californica, which likes to grow at low elevation in moist and shady places.  Most of our 28-mile drive to the trailhead is on Hwy 62 and will take about 40 minutes.
