Zoom Program: Plants, People, and Common Ground
Presenter: Rose Grimson
Rose Grimson – a senior in environmental science at Willamette University and the 2025 winner of a Jean Davis Scholarship from the Willamette Valley Chapter NPSO – will talk about her work to measure and map soil health, native plant populations, and First Food plant populations at the native plant nursery and restoration sites at the Natural Resources Department of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. She will discuss her measurement methods; how interactive mapping tools can be used to support restoration work, community-based foraging, landscape histories, and ecological education; and her plans to replicate her work at other sites.
