Field Trip: Groundhog Mountain and Waterdog Lake

Spend a leisurely day with Tanya Harvey botanizing along wetlands, a small lake, and rocky roadcuts in the Groundhog Mountain area, southeast of Oakridge. There are no trails, but we’ll probably walk about a mile up a gravel road to a great butterfly viewing spot. The wetlands are by the road, but bring rubber boots if you want to explore them more carefully. Bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Meet at South Eugene High parking lot (19th & Patterson) at 8:30 am or Lowell covered bridge at 9:00 am to carpool. Road is somewhat rough, so high clearance vehicles are suggested. Sign up here.
