Park away from the Restaurant next to Crater Lake Hwy<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Trip Leader: Al Collinet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Viewpoint Mike is a lovely trail that climbs steadily uphill to a rocky-moss covered viewpoint, showcasing early low elevation southwestern Oregon flowers. The hike is 4.6 miles roundtrip with 982ft elevation gain.\u00a0 Unique species include Kellogg\u2019s monkeyflower,\u00a0<em>Diplacus kelloggii;<\/em>\u00a0few flowered blue-eyed Mary,\u00a0<em>Collinsia sparsiflora<\/em> in the moist open areas at low elevations; and California saxifrage,\u00a0<em>Micranthes californica<\/em>, which likes to grow at low elevation in moist and shady places.\u00a0 Most of our 28-mile drive to the trailhead is on Hwy 62 and will take about 40 minutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday, April 18, 9am-3pm Siskiyou Plant Explorers Viewpoint Mike trail near Prospect, OR Meeting Location: 9am at Medford Olive Garden Restaurant, 3125 Crater Lake Highway.
